Jennifer is from Los Angeles and has been living in Cuenca, Ecuador,
since August 2020. She has a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
and a Ph.D. in Leadership and Change. For over 30 years in LA, she was in
private practice as a speech-language pathologist and worked with young
children from 18 months to 5 years, teaching them how to form sounds that
created words, that eventually led to speaking in phrases, sentences and
eventually in entire paragraphs and thoughts. Using a whole language
approach, she taught these young children how to create projects, be
responsible for their behavior, remain in control of their emotions, ask or
indicate the important questions and do complete work from beginning to end.
It was always an honor to work with these young children who were just at the
beginning of their development.
Jennifer has written a captivating story about a ginger cat named Taro who,
because he is unable to provide for his family, decides to join a monastery. It is
both hilarious and deeply moving.
About kindness, Jennifer says, “Kindness is a reciprocal action of give and take.
There is no distinction between giver and receiver. It just goes on and on, like
a wheel rolling down the street, where both are equally fulfilled and
gratified.”
Jennifer wrote recently, “In the time that I have been an advisor for Kindness
Club Cuenca, I have seen these young people, these kindness ambassadors,
achieve tremendous things. They are so eager to rise above themselves and
sprinkle their kindness throughout the Cuenca community. I am honored to be a
part of this remarkable program.”
