Deepti Bhandari is from Pokhara, Nepal; and intends to be a lifelong
ambassador for kindness. She has recently completed her Cambridge
International A levels (completed 12th grade under the British system) from the
prestigious Budhanilkantha School, Kathmandu; and is now exploring her way
towards an undergraduate degree in psychology.
While at Budhanilkantha, she was president of the school’s environmental club.
Her team’s major accomplishment was planting over 400 fruit saplings in 2022
through a program of the Division Forest Office of Kathmandu.
Before leaving for Kathmandu, Deepti attended Motherland. On 6 March 2020,
her journey with Kindness Club Motherland (KCM) began as charter president.
She was selected by the Founders, Durga Maya and Dave Andersen, because of
her exceptional essay, speech and followup interview.
During her 2-year tenure, a tenure extended due to the pandemic, the KCM
team was able to help more than 500 families from all over Pokhara valley with
food and hygiene kits and donate stationery items to 4 under-funded
government schools. She gave interviews and was featured by local radio and
TV. Her message was consistent—there will be no positive change unless young
people get involved in their communities.
Deepti believes her presidency at KCM has given her a new life perspective: to
live for others and not for yourself only. She felt and understood gratefulness.
And she knew that a small act can lead to a big change. Her kindness journey
has, so far, not only made her a better leader and communicator, but also a
better person who lives for community service.
