Narayan has had a 20-year long career with Himalaya Eye Hospital, Pokhara. In
1995, he started as an assistant in the finance department. By 2006, he had
been promoted to Hospital Administrator. For many years, he served as the
hospital’s head administrator while teaching at Motherland.
In 2019, Narayan met with Dave and Durga Maya Andersen to discuss kindness.
The topics included kindness story time, establishing a school kindness club and
the acute need to teach kindness in schools. He has done his “level best” (as
he frequently puts it) to implement all three initiatives discussed at that first
meeting. In 2020, both story time and Kindness Club Motherland were
established. Kindness curriculum is in development. Currently, as of 2023,
there is a dedicated Kindness Teacher and three paid assistants teaching SEL
competencies to 38 classes, grades 1 through 8.
About kindness Narayan wrote, “A little act of kindness can make a huge
difference not only in the life of a person, but society as a whole. Work for
spreading kindness in every possible way.”
